Hubert Lau Presented “This Town”, Sparking Education and Innovation in the Alberta Carbon Credits Market

Hubert Lau was proud to hold “This Town: Albert Carbon Credits Market” on January 18, 2016. Held at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technologies (NIST), this event posed the question, “What does it mean to Albertans and the World?”

Edmonton IT Services

This Town featured a panel discussion presented by Carbon Credit expert Ed Alfke, among other industry members. As chairman of the board for Carbon Credit Solutions, Alfke has extensive experience with the Carbon Credits Market, dating back to his work in the 1980s, since which he has collaborated successfully with over twenty businesses.

Panel members included:

  • Graham Gilchrist, an Alberta agrologist, and Principal of Gilchrist Consulting with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. Gilchrist has built vital relationships between the carbon offset industry, the Department of Environment and the Department of Agriculture.
  • David Schuster, an investment management professional with four decades of experience in finance, who currently serves as a member of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise (CAFE).
  • Tanya Maynes, an environmental expert and Sustainability Specialist who actively supported the Alberta Carbon Credits industry during her time at C3 (formerly Climate Change Central).
  • James Smith, a real estate expert with over three decades of experience in investments, who currently works as a nationally-sought after public speaker.
  • Aaron Schroeder, who recently formed Brightspot Climate Inc., and has over a decade of experience in analyzing, quantifying and auditing greenhouse gas emissions in North America.

Thanks to the panel’s vast knowledge with carbon credits, This Town inspired valuable and educational discussion amongst the panel members, which made for a great event for all attendees. In keeping with This Town’s tagline, “The Pride of Edmonton”, the event made a point to celebrate Barb Rappert and Project Shine, a local organization that promotes personal growth through their event “Experience: LEAP”.

This Town was sponsored by Ekota Central Ltd. and AMCC Capital. Half of the proceeds from the tickets were donated to NIST, the event’s host.

This is the second This Town event organized by Hubert Lau, and both have been successful and worthwhile endeavors. Get in touch with us today at (780) 421_-7373 or to learn more about the This Town series, and to find out when the next event will take place!
